Two proposed projects for two barangays in Antique will soon commence following the release of P40-million worth of Local Government Support Funds (LGSF) from the national government under the Support to Barangay Development Program (SBDP).
DILG Antique Provincial Director (PD) Cherryl P. Tacda said that Bulan-bulan in San Remigio and Cabladan, Sibalom are the two barangays to utilize LGSF allocations. She said that Bulan-bulan intends to use the funds for the construction of their farm to market road, while Cabladan plans to use it for the construction of classrooms, roads, water systems, and electrification project.
“This program is a realization of the longtime dream of the constituents of Brgy. Bulan-bulan to have quality roads. For Barangay Cabladan, the projects are designed to alleviate the hardships of the constituents, so I hope that the SBDP fund will be used efficiently and effectively to implement them,” said.
The two barangays are among the 74 target barangays of the LGSF-SBDP in Western Visayas. Each target barangay will be given P20 million through direct release by the Bureau of Treasury to the provincial government.
The said barangays had earlier been identified as beneficiaries of the End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) program of the national government.
Both mayors of San Remigio and Sibalom manifested their statement of support for the implementation of the said priority projects as included in the target barangays’ development plan. They assured the DILG that they will do their part to ensure that deliverables are met.
The projects were identified by the recipients through a Barangay Development Planning workshop conducted by DILG Antique last year, in preparation for their submission of project proposals. The proposed project had been submitted to the Provincial Government and had been endorsed to the Regional Development Council.
The funds had been downloaded to the Provincial Government, which shall implement the project, while DILG Antique is tasked to continuously monitor their implementation.
