DILG R3 tackles COVID-19 situation, LGU response in Talakayan Central Luzon episode

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 3 (R3) tackles the latest updates in COVID-19 situation in the region and the local government units’ (LGUs’) response in the latest episode of Talakayan Central Luzon (TCL) aired via the DILG Central Luzon official Facebook page and Zoom online platform.

The TCL is a program aiming to inform and educate the public on the various programs of the DILG in maintaining and strengthening good local governance including the government’s efforts against COVID-19.

Bearing the theme, “Gitnang Luzon COVID 19 Update, Ating Alamin, Pagtugon ng Lokal na Pamahalaan, Ating Talakayin”, the second offering of TCL delved in the status of the Central Luzon COVID-19 update specifically on the total number of cases, recoveries, deaths, and fatality rate per province; age group and sex of affected patients; and vaccination program status in the region comprehensively presented by the Department of Health (DOH) Region III OIC-Regional Director (RD) Corazon Flores.

Flores likewise shared important health protocol tips that should be observed at home, the workplace, and public places to avoid the spread of the virus.

Meanwhile, Mayor Eleonor D. Dominguez of Zambales shared their best practices and measures in handling the COVID-19 pandemic highlighting the mobilization of the Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTs), provision of financial assistance to COVID-19 victims, and implementation of effective communication strategies on the benefits of the vaccination program being conducted by the municipal government.

At the end of each segment, Flores and Dominguez answered and clarified questions of online viewers from Region 3 focusing on COVID-19 update and LGU best practices in combatting the pandemic, respectively.

DILG R3 Assistant RD Jay Timbreza facilitated the discussion during the whole course of the program while Project Development Officer Jairo Singian served as the host.
