As part of its effort to institutionalize regular clean-up activities to LGUs, the Department of the Interior and Local Government Regional Office 3, led by Florida M. Dijan and ARD Abraham A. Pascua, joined the City of San Fernando Pampanga in the conduct of the City Wide Clean Up Day at the DILG Regional Office grounds.
Dijan said the activity is aimed in institutionalizing a regular clean up within the city. This is also in support to one of the 8-point agenda of the City Government which is to promote a clean and green environment.
“Through the activity, we hope to raise the awareness among the Fernandinos on their commitment to a clean and healthy environment which is part of inculcating proper garbage segregation and collection to the people,” she said.
She said that this is also part of the effort of the city government to make it in the Guinness Book of World Records by having the most number of participants in the city-wide clean-up day.
During the activity which kicked off the weeklong Celebration of San Fernando’s 12th Cityhood Charter Anniversary, DILG R3 personnel cleared the waterways, roads and vacant spaces along the premises of the Regional Office which are prone to solid waste materials and other unnecessary garbage.
A total of 81 sacks of solid waste categorized as bio-degradable materials were collected in the clean up.##
