The Department of the Interior and Local Government-Region 3 (DILG-R3) conducted the virtual Roll-out Training on the Implementation of the National Action Plan on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (NAP-PCVE) for selected barangay officials and personnel last September 24, 2021.
DILG-R3 Officer-in-Charge Regional Director Jay E. Timbreza said that participants of the said training were punong barangays, Sangguniang Barangay members, barangay tanods, and barangay secretaries of 100 target participating barangays in Central Luzon.
In his message, Timbreza stressed the importance of cooperation and coordination of each members of the barangay in order to have a peaceful and orderly community.
“Walang makatatalo sa ating sama-samang paghahanda. Hindi po mangyayari ang mga karumal-dumal o mga pangyayaring magdudulot nang pagbubuwis ng buhay ng ating mga kababayan sa komunidad gaya ng nangyari sa Marawi kung tayo ay magiging handa,” he said.
The activity was aimed to provide information and awareness to empower local communities to their roles and responsibilities to prevent violent extremism and other threat to peace and security.
The NAP-PCVE was crafted by the national government to prevent radicalization leading to violent extremism through the ‘whole-of-nation’ approach or the convergence of government, civil society organizations, religious sector, and other stakeholders.
