The Management Course for Local Officials and Functionaries of R1 officially started on September 4, 2021 with online classes being conducted during Saturdays and Sundays according to the Department of the Interior and Local Government-Region 1 (DILG-R1).
DILG-R1 Director (RD) Julie J. Daquioag said that 25 students from different national government agencies, local government units (LGUs), non-governmental organizations, and private practitioners in R1 enrolled and joined the first online lecture-discussion.
Dr. Ramon B. Torres of the Saint Louis College (SLC) and Local Government Operation Officer VI May Rose R. Ancheta of DILG-R1 were the faculty assigned for the group tackling the subject PA107L: Local Development Planning (Climate and Disaster Risk Assessment).
The Management Course is a partnership between the DILG-R1–Local Governance Regional Resource Center 1 and SLC, where the latter serves as a Multi-Stakeholder Advisory Committee (MSAC) partner.
It can be recalled that the DILG-R1 and SLC recently signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) offering an extension program on Management Course for LGU officials, employees, and other functionaries.
During the signing of the said MOA, Daquioag, said that the memorandum was one great milestone and its first engagement with an MSAC academe partner and hoped that the partnership also encourages other academes to adopt the best practices of SLC.
The said management course is aligned with the mandates of Civil Service Commission Memorandum Circular No. 18, series of 2018 for the LGUs in their continuing professional development.
