DILG, POPCOM hold training on mainstreaming PopDev, DRRM-CCA

January 17, 2013

In partnership with the Commission on Population (POPCOM) in Region 12, the Department of Interior and Local Government in the region conducted the Trainors’ Training on the Mainstreaming of Population Development and DRRM-CCA into the Comprehensive Development Plan of the Local Government Units on December 17-20, 2012 at Villa Princessita, City of Koronadal.

Participants included cluster heads and some technical staff from the DILG Regional, Provincial and HUC Offices in the region, technical staff from the planning offices of selected LGUs, and personnel from the Commission on Population, who were all eyed to provide technical assistance to the LGUs during their planning process, especially those LGUs that will be developing /updating their Comprehensive Development Plans next year.

The resource speakers, CLGOO Alberto P. Sero, Jr. and LGOO IV Maria Theresa Bautista, both of DILG 12, lectured on the Population Development (PopDev) Approach to Development Planning.  They discussed and elaborated each of the success indicators, also derived from the Millenium Development Goals, to be taken into consideration in the whole planning process. Accordingly, the Programs/Projects/Activities (PPA’s) of LGUs should be mainstreamed on DRRM-CCA ideology and should be gender-sensitive and responsive.

Linda Rojas of the Commission on Population, and who spoke in behalf of DILG Regional Director Buagas B. Sulaik and POPCOM Regional Director Edwin Mateo P. Quijano, stressed that all their efforts, in partnership with other government agencies like the DILG, are for the people. “When we talk of population, we talk of people, we talk of integration of ideas straight to our hearts,  then apply them for the benefit of the people.” Further, she said “We continue to look forward for a more fruitful, productive and enjoyable collaboration with the DILG in the years to come, all for the good of the population.”
