Cagayan de Oro - In its pursuit towards sustainable and lasting peace, the City Peace, Development and Security Council (CPDSC) of Cagayan de Oro maps out its strategies down to the barangay level during the recent 1st quarter meeting held at Rosario Pavilion, Limketkai Center, this city.
DILG Cagayan de Oro City Director Jane J. Docallos said the council has been working hand-in-hand with other government agencies to address pressing issues and concerns in the city.
“We see the interrelatedness of issues, especially with the implementation of the road clearing program. It seeks to clear the roads of obstructions such as structures, vehicles, garbage and even posts that are in road shoulders,” said Docallos.
Docallos said part of the CPDSC’s strategy to address peace and public safety concerns is the refinement of the city’s refined Peace and Order and Public Safety (POPS) Plaits.
She said the council also plans to collaborate with the City Traffic Management Board (TMB) to address the issues on road accidents and traffic management in the city.
According to Docallos, the City council will also conduct community profiling in target barangays to identify issues at the community level, scale up government interventions relative to the localization of Executive Order No. 70, and maintain peace and order in the CDO.
The DILG City Director also revealed that initial agreements were forged on the conduct of sectoral unification activities for the youth, with the implementation of Capacitating Urban Communities for Peace and Development (CUCPD).
Unlike other HUCs in the country, Docallos said CDO has IPs in its hinterland barangays, thus IPs are included to be part of the target sectors for the CUCPD program along with five other target sectors.
