In the quest towards attaining peace, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Bukidnon recently conducted Bukidnon Task Force in Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (BUK TF-ELCAC) Update Meeting at Loiza’s Pavilion, Barangay Casisang, Malaybalay, Bukidnon to possibly settle the existing land conflicts in the province.
DILG) Bukidnon Provincial Director Carmelo Enrique B. Libot said this initiative is part of the whole-of-nation approach to put an end to the decades old problem on local communist armed conflict in the province.
“We are hoping that through this meeting we are going to have agreements that may settle the existing land conflicts and to attain peace and order in Bukidnon,” Libot said.
Libot who facilitated the conduct of BUK TF-ELCAC said they tackled the matters concerning the two (2) slayed indigenous people (IP) in the Municipality of Don Carlos.
Meanwhile, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Virgilio N. Batocail presented the updates on the creation of the “One Map Initiative” during the same meeting.
The One Map Initiative is a tool to be utilized as reference in order for the existing Ancestral Domains in the province to be easily identified.
According to National Commission of Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) representative Milan C. Sambile, the One Map Initiative should always be in sync with IP’s “panud” or the historical documentation of ancestral domains.
In attendance during the said BUK TF-ELCAC were representatives from the 88th Infantry Battalion and 403rd Brigade of the Philippine Army, Philippine National Police (PNP), Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), NCIP, DENR, and the Local Government Unit of Don Carlos with Mayor Ma. Victoria O. Pizarro.
