In the quest to provide better access to the transacting public, the Department of the Interior and Local Government in Central Visayas recently opened its new Local Governance Regional Resource Center (LGRRC) facility at the ground floor of DILG-7 building at Sudlon, Barangay Lahug, Cebu City.
Local Government Academy (LGA) Executive Director Thelma T. Vecina and DILG-7 Assistant Director Maria Loisella Lucino led the soft opening of the said facility which is now called “Masayuron Resource Center.”
“Ito ay bagong pamaraan kung paano natin maibabahagi ang ating mga program. LGRC is an opportunity na maibibigay natin sa local officials,” Vecina said.
Previously situated at the second floor of the DILG-7 building, the new LGRC facility now showcases new improvements and materials such as a huge television monitor, computers, and reading materials.
In her message, Director Vecina congratulated DILG-7 family for its commitment in maintaining the LGRRC operational.
She said LGRC helps in establishing the image of DILG and facilitates in strengthening the agency’s advocacy on effective local governance through capacity development and sharing of information for improved policy decisions.
Vecina urged the regional officials and staff to turn the facility into a venue and opportunity for sharing the wealth of knowledge.
LGRC institutionalizes the commitment of the organization to support and enhance the capability of LGUs in managing their affairs and services through sharing of information, knowledge management, convergence, and innovations. This paves the way for the establishment of LGRRC as a platform for convergence in delivering capacity development for LGUs.
The LGRC services include capacity development, multimedia, public education and citizenship, and linkage.
