The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-7 joined the Department of Health (DOH) during the recent launch of the “Chikiting Ligtas” Measles, Rubella-Oral Polio Vaccination program in Consolacion, Cebu.
DILG-7 Director Leocadio Trovela expressed his full support to the program and reminded the stakeholders and partner institutions “not to lose their focus on other pressing health issues that may severely affect our community, like the possibility of a large-scale measles outbreak or polio outbreak.”
“We at the DILG 7 are calling on our Local Government Units to welcome and continue supporting this campaign. We need your leadership and untiring support to ensure that all families are informed. Children are reached and brought to vaccination posts and receive the protection they need. Your cooperation is the key to make this program successful,” Trovela said.
As a way of signifying its full support, DILG issued an advisory and a Memorandum Circular urging all Local Chief Executives as well as encouraging their constituents to participate in this health intervention, particularly families with children who are most susceptible to the said contagious diseases.
