To protect the health and safety of 2,000 newly hired contact tracers (CTs), the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 10 provided them personal protective equipment (PPE).
“Our contact tracers play a vital role in COVID-19 detection and in further preventing the spread of the virus in our communities, therefore their safety should also be of utmost priority,” DILG 10 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe said during the Region 10 Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (R10 IATF-MEID) meeting.
Agabe thanked the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) for providing additional face masks, shoe covers, and gloves to augment DILG’s allocation. The Department of Health (DOH-10) also committed to supply more PPEs.
The regional director cited some LGUs in Lanao del Norte for not only providing their contact tracers with PPEs, but also with tables and chairs necessary for their contact tracing, active surveillance, public health risk assessment and health education tasks.
The PPEs provided includes face masks, face shields, shoe covers, gloves, sanitizers, thermal scanners, and multivitamins.
