More and more local tourist will hopefully be attracted to flock to Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte with the recent expansion of Tourism Function Hall through the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF), according to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-10.
DILG-10 Arnel Agabe said the facility is the recent addition to the municipality’s tourism facilities since Kauswagan is known to be the province’s home of the longest boardwalk.
Agabe said the DILG-10 Project Development and Management Unit (PDMU) has already conducted their final inspection of said PCF project which Kauswagan municipal government availed after passing the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) in 2019.
The PCF program is an incentive given to municipalities demonstrating good performance in planning, transparency, accountability, among others.
Meanwhile, Kauswagan Tourism Officer Lonorhata T. Lucman is in high hopes that with the completed tourism function hall, the LGU will be able to attract and cater more tourists and eventually generate more income through tourism.
“Because of this grant and incentive, we will see to it that we will challenge ourselves to improve more para hindi masayang ang naibigay ng DILG na opportunity sa aming municipality,” Lucman shared.
Aside from the Tourism Function Hall, other PCF tourism projects availed by the LGU are Municipal Marine Eco-Tourism Park (PCF 2011), Municipal Marine Eco-Tourism Phase II (2013), Marine Eco-Tourism Park or the boardwalk (2016), and the Upgrading of Marine Eco-Tourism Park (2017).
