Higaonon tribes Sito Kalhaan of Branagy Minalwang, Claveria, Misamis Oriental got a new lease of life after they reclaimed their ancestral domain, thanks to the Claveria Municipal Task Force- Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (MTF-ELCAC), reported the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 10.
DILG-10 Regional Director Arnel Agabe said Kalhaan is once again a vibrant place for the Higaonon tribes, a group of indigenous people (IPs) as they who learned that the government cared for them, too.
In a recent launching ceremony, MTF-ELCAC and the Armed Forces of the Philippines 58th Infantry Battalion conducted ribbon cutting, serbisyo caravan, and tree growing activity.
Dubbed as “Restoring Communities, Changing Lives: The New Beginning of Kalhaan,” Agabe said the launching provided avenue for the government and the IPs to discuss local issues and shared with them its time, resources and services.
According to Agabe, the Higaonon Tribe experienced first-hand that government is sincere in its efforts to bring peace and development through the various programs, projects to be implemented in the area.
