National Statistics Month

October 1, 2020 to October 31, 2020

The National Statistics Month (NSM) was first observed in 1990 pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No.647 signed by then President Corazon C. Aquino on September 20, 1990, Declaring the Month of October of Every Year as the National Statistics Month. This aims to promote, enhance and instill awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of society; and to elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country.

This year’s theme is “Bridging Digital Gaps: Making Information Available to All.” The theme recognizes the importance of digitalization but emphasizes the need to address the social inequality in terms of access and use of ICT. It underscores that making quality information accessible and available to all enables leaders, policy-and decision makers to formulate better plans to serve our country’s economic and social needs. This is also true for the private sector, where decisions of private establishments, individuals and households are influenced by information they get through online/digital platforms.
