The National Statistics Month is conducted annually pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 647 (series of 1990), "Declaring the Month of October of Every Year as the National Statistics Month." The celebration aims to promote, enhance and instill nationwide awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sector of society.
Now on its 26th year, the NSM carries the theme, "Pagyamanin at Gamitin ang Estadistika, Kalusugan para sa Lahat ay Abot-Kamay Na," hosted by the Department of Health (DOH). The objective is to highlight the importance of improving the health sector, through the provision of quality statistics made available by the Philippine Statistical System (PSS) to our health planners to identify target beneficiaries as well as to formulate appropriate programs that will likely benefit more filipinos.
Various activities will be conducted for the whole month of October sponsored by different national government agencies (NGAs), government owned and controlled corporations, local government units, academe, as well as private companies and organizations. These activities include symposia, workshops, orientation seminars, exhibits, slide shows and publication of statistical reports, indicators and other relevant information, among others, with particular emphasis on the theme. Streamer/tarpaulin will also be posted on the building facade of the Department/region/local government units throughout the month of October.
