DILG establishes Satellite Office in Calamba
As part of the preparations for the eventual establishment of a CALABARZON Regional Government Center (RGC) in Calamba City in compliance to Executive Order No. 246, Dir. Roberto C. Abejero has recently pledged to put up a DILG Satellite Office in the city.
In an RGC Core Group Meeting held on September 20, 2007 at the NEDA IV-A Regional Office, Dir. Abejero, who is also the Chairman of the Committee on the establishment of the RGC, said that the DILG CALABARZON will establish a Satellite Office in Calamba City by the end of October. Moreover, other government agency representatives also said that their offices will also put up their own satellite offices in Calamba City.
The following are some of the other agreements made during the meeting:
- NEDA IV-A will set a meeting between the Regional Development Council (RDC) and the donor, Ayala Greenfield to discuss concession agreements regarding the establishment of the RGC;
- The RDC will be responsible in the identification and prioritization of the locations of the NGAs in the RGC;
- DBM Dir. Pacificador proposed a possible Php 50-200 million infrastructure support to the RGC allocated to the DPWH on top of their ceiling;
- The group also agreed to establish a “one-stop area” for the NGAs to service their clients. The City of Calamba will be responsible for looking for a common area for the agencies;
- The Office of the President will issue a directive to all NGAs to accelerate the transfer and putting up of satellite offices in line with compliance to EO 246;
- The City of Calamba will be responsible for securing the site for these satellite offices in time for the groundbreaking before the end of the year.
