The introduction of the Barangay Governance Performance Management System (BGPMS) in the CALABARZON region will further enhance the capabilities of the local officials, which in turn, will greatly improve barangay governance. The BGPMS, an extension of our centerpiece program LGPMS, will be the instrument used to guide and strengthen the barangays by guiding the local officials and National Government Agencies (NGAs) in the preparation of timely and appropriate development agenda anchored on the findings of the BGPMS.

We have seen the urgent need to strengthen the barangays, especially in light of the upcoming Barangay Elections on October 29. The barangay maybe the smallest political unit but it is the most important. If the barangay officials are properly guided, the problems faced by the nation will surely be lessened. Through the BGPMS, we will be able to assist the national government in making appropriate policies for barangays using the information from the BGPMS report. Moreover, the data gathered from these reports will also be used as bases in the crafting of our Programs, Projects, and Activities (PPAs).

By virtue of our mandate, the DILG is tasked to strengthen the LGUs. By strengthening the barangays, we move a step closer towards achieving our goal of ensuring “Good Local Governance” in the CALABARZON region.
