LGUs urged to ensure safe, peaceful Undas 2015

October 29, 2015

All roads lead to the cemeteries this coming All Saints’ Day weekend, and this is why the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) is asking for the help of all city and municipal mayors to ensure the safety of the public during the observance of Undas 2015.

In a directive, DILG Secretary Mel Senen S. Sarmiento urged local chief executives to convene their local peace and order council to formulate a contingency plan on peace and order and public safety that will be operationalized to prevent any untoward incident from occurring during Undas.

The DILG Secretary also urged the local officials to mobilize and deploy law enforcers, barangay tanods and medical personnel in the vicinity of public and private cemeteries and memorial parks to ensure peace and order and public safety.

According to Sarmiento, local authorities should also see to it that cleanliness and orderliness in cemeteries and other public places before, during and after Undas 2015 are maintained.
