Another 4 of 12 escaped Ozamis inmates recapturedAugust 3, 2012
Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) tracking team re-arrested another 4 of the 12 inmates who escaped from the Ozamis City Jail in Misamis Occidental.
In a report to Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jesse M. Robredo, C/Supt. Diony Mamaril, Officer-in-Charge and concurrent Chief of the BJMP, said another 2 inmates were rearrested while to 2 surrenders bringing to 8 the total number of escapees recaptured.
Mamaril said those rearrested were, Angelo Bacus for violation of R.A. 9165; Jomar Pelago for violation of Sec 7 (b) Art. 2 of R.A. 9165, Frevilito Gabigas, Jr. for robbery in an inhabited place; and a minor whose name withheld. Gabigas and the minor inmates surrendered to Ozamis City Mayor Nova Princess E. Parojinog-Echavez yesterday.
They were rearrested at the suburbs of Pagadian and Ozamis City while a lone escapees were recaptured at Tubod, Lanao del Norte, 4 days after they escaped from jail taking advantage of the heavy rains due to Typhoon Gener last Sunday morning.
The inmates escape by sawing off the iron grills of their detention cell.
On Monday, the jail bureau recaptured 4 inmates identified as Angelito Pepito, Ronie Tumapon, Wilfred Giolen and Jojie Pabingwit.
Mamaril said the remaining 4 of the 12 escapees still at-large were identified as Wilfedo Panongalinga, Jr., convicted for 6 years violation of R.A. 8294 (firearms law) and with a pending murder case; Mario Elumbaga for theft; Harry Alfeche for violation of Sec. 5 Art 2 of R.A. 9165; Roger Felicilda for violation of Sec. 5 Art 2 of R.A. 9165.
Mamaril designated Insp. Arnel Nacasabug replacing Ozamis City Warden Insp. Murphy Podyog.
He reminded jail guards, wardens and wardress to be always on alert specially this rainy season where inmates take advantage of the heavy rains to escape from their detention cell.
