Salintubig recipients in Western Visayas attend Orientation WorkshopAugust 15, 2012

Iloilo City - Eight waterless local governments in the Western Visayas region participated in the first leg of the 2012 Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig para sa Lahat (SALINTUBIG) Orientation-Workshop held recently at the Sarabia Manor Hotel and Convention Center here.
The participating LGUs have been identified as waterless LGUs and non-waterless LGUs with waterless barangays under the Salintubig program of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
These are the waterless barangays of President Roxas in Capiz and Salvador Benedicto and Toboso in Negros Occidental, as well as the municipalities of Sta. Barbara, Alimodian and Cabatuan in Iloilo, Barbaza in Antique and Pontevedra in Negros Occidental which are the non-waterless municipalities covering waterless barangays.
The whole orientation workshop focused on the capability enhancement of participating LGUs in coming-up with their project proposals and detailed engineering designs.
Ms. Marivic Nocum of the Office of the Project Development Services (OPDS) from DILG Central Office and the Asst. Project Manager for SALINTUBIG laid the ground for the project implementation schemes as well as its background.
Dr. Elvie Villalobos from the Department of Health-Region VI was also invited to provide guidance to LGUs in their Project Proposal conforming to the standards set by DOH when it comes to water facilities.
Participants from the respective LGUs were the Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator, Municipal Engineer and the MLGOOs. DILG Provincial Focal Persons and Provincial Engineers were also invited in this activity.
The second leg of the SALINTUBIG 2012 Orientation and Workshop will kick off at Roxas City, Capiz with 6 other recipient LGUs. - Christian M. Nagaynay
