Revenue collections in Ilocos town soars highJuly 23, 2012

Revenue collections in the municipality of Piddig in Ilocos Norte continued to improve as the town’s fiscal report showed a tremendous increase in collection of business taxes, fees and charges and income from its economic enterprises.
Mayor Eduardo Eddie Guillen said the continuous increase of revenues of the municipality can be attributed to the implementation of Ordinance No. 2010-12-155 or the Revised Revenue Code of 2010 and Ordinance No.2010-12-56 also known as the Revised Market Code of 2010.
Guillen also said that the strict implementation of e-BPLS (Business Permit & Licensing System) program of the Municipality also greatly contributed to the robust tax collection because of the faster and easier application and release of business permits and licenses under the program .
On business taxes alone, the actual collection for 2011 was Php 1,233,404.85, which was 184% higher than its collection target of Php 668,000.00.
On fees charges, out of the expected collection of Php 1,270,000.00, the LGU collected Php 2,512,729.08 or 197.85% collection efficiency for the year.
On economic enterprises, to include the operations of the market and slaughterhouse, the collection target was only Php 1, 665,000.00 as opposed to its actual collection at the end of 2011 which was Php 2,123,690.09 or a percentage collection of 127.55%.
Jubilant of this achievement, the first termer Mayor said that the municipal government is now more inspired to enhance the quality and widen the scope of their basic services to the people as aptly captured in its slogan, “PIDDIG, ANG GALING MO, TULOY-TULOY ANG PAG-ASENSO”. “MABUHAY KA!”
