USec Eduardo R. Soliman, Jr. recently called on the NCR SK Federation Presidents together with their DILG-NCR counterparts (Local Government Operations Officers) in a bid to strengthen the SK institution. Disturbed with the plummeting image of SK in the society and in the political scene, USec Soliman conferred with the SK Presidents on May 13, 2008 in Pasig City to discuss some SK issues and concerns including proposals on how to strengthen the SK as an institution.
Also discussed during the interface were the need to fill up vacant SK positions and to complete the list of Katipunan ng Kabataan membership in the barangays. The SK Officials were also reminded to implement relevant and timely programs in accordance with their SK Constitution and By-Laws which include Green Brigade Organization, Livelihood Programs, Capability Building Activities, Anti-Drug Abuse Campaigns and other services. In addition, thereto, suggested activities for the SK in the region include tree planting activities in the La Mesa Ecopark in Quezon City and training on language proficiency.(Public Information Unit)
