DILG-NCR Technical Personnel, oriented on BBI Harmonization

Quezon City. June 27, 2008. All 90 Local Government Operations Officers of the DILG-NCR underwent orientation on the Harmonization of Barangay-Based Institutions (BBIs). This is in preparation to the series of briefings they will conduct in their respective barangays to promote the adoption of clustering as a strategy to harmonize said BBIs.

Regional Memorandum Circular 2008-10 identified the (1) Barangay Development Council, (2) Peace & Order and Public Safety Cluster, (3) Livelihood & Entrepreneurship Cluster, (4) Food Security, Health & Well-Being Cluster, (5) Environmental Management Cluster, (6) Education & Sports Cluster, (7) Barangay Performance Management Cluster as the seven (7) clusters with complementary or interrelated functions.

This approach will simplify and strengthen the Barangay-Based Institutions (BBIs) for more effective and efficient planning, budgeting and implementation of barangay programs, project and activities.

Undersecretary Eduardo R. Soliman, Jr. directed the DILG-NCR officers to prepare action plans on the conduct of orientation, monitoring and evaluation of the program in their respective areas of assignment. (Public Information Unit)
