DILG-NCR seeks LnB’s support in harmonizing the Barangay-Based Institutions
June 3, 2008 Pasig City - In an effort to inform and orient barangay authorities on the issuance of Regional Memorandum Circular No. 2008-10 re: Harmonizing the Barangay-Based Institutions (BBIs), Undersecretary Eduardo R. Soliman Jr. recently met with the NCR Liga ng mga Barangay presidents including National President Ricojudge Janvier Echiverri, who is also the Liga Caloocan Chapter President. With the numerous, confusing and overlapping functions of existing BBIs, LnB presidents agreed to support said effort especially on the adoption of clustering as a strategy to harmonize said institutions. USec Soliman also directed DILG-NCR Officers to assist in the implementation of RMC 2008-10. In addition, the LnB presidents were encouraged to spearhead activities in support of the Oplan Balik-Eskwela program to ensure the smooth and hassle-free opening of classes, the forthcoming celebration of Independence Day, the Re-organization of the Green Brigade for Sangguniang Kabataan and the submission of Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Network (SALN) of all Barangay Officials as required by law.
