Quezon City – DILG-NCR employees and officials gathered to celebrate its 20 th Founding Anniversary, the 17th Anniversary of the Local Government Code of 1991and to conduct its 3 rd Quarter 2008 Performance Evaluation at the Performing Arts Theater, Amoranto Sports Complex Quezon City on 10 October 2008.

Said event was also participated in by City/Municipal Officials and Functionaries like LNB NCR Chapter President Felipe Urrutia and Pateros Mayor Jaime Medina, Department officials and Bureau Directors led by Undersecretary Austere Panadero.

The activity further served as a venue to recognize Brgy. Onse of San Juan and Brgy. Sto. Rosario Kanluran of Pateros as Outstanding Lupon Tagapamayapa Awardees in Highly Urbanized Cities and First-Third Class Municipality Categories, respectively. In addition, barangays Pasong Tamo in Quezon City and Barangka Itaas in Mandaluyong City were also cited being 2 nd and 1 st runners up respectively, also in the Highly Urbanized City category.

Among the highlights of the celebration is the showcasing of booths containing local governance knowledge products from the NBOO, BLGD, OPA and OPDS; a presentation delivered by Undersecretary Panadero assessing the trends, issues and challenges of the Local Government Code during the last 17 years of its existence; and the awarding of plaques recognizing the DILG-NCR pioneers, previous RDs and ARDs for their loyalty and dedication to service which contributed significantly in the quest for excellence in local governance in the National Capital Region for the past 20 years.

In his message, Undersecretary Eduardo R. Soliman, Jr. thanked all those who made the anniversary celebration successful and promised to sustain the efforts of those who struggled to establish the National Capital Region.(Public Information Unit)
