March is Women's Month: LGUs urged to participate in Women's Month Celebration
February 28, 2010. Interior and Local Government Secretary Ronnie Puno enjoined local government units (LGUs) nationwide to celebrate Women’s Month and Day by conducting relevant activities in their respective localities that will highlight and recognize women’s competencies, role and contribution in nation-building
In a memorandum circular to all provincial governors, city and municipal mayors and punong barangays, Puno urged local officials to support and participate in the month-long event by holding programs and activities relevant to this year’s theme celebration “Babae: Tagumpay Ka Ng Bayan”.

What We Do?
The DILG has three major concerns, namely: local governance, peace and order, and public safety. To address these concerns, DILG performs the following roles:
• Provide policies, standards, and rules on local governance, peace and order, and public safety and evaluator of their compliance;
• Monitor of compliance to national laws, policies, rules and regulations;
• Provide strategic technical assistance to provinces, cities and municipalities, to help them in strengthening their institutional capacities to plan and manage the local socio-economic development process within the context of autonomy and participatory as well as rights-based governance;
• Implement long-term devolution process; and
