• Establish and prescribe plans, policies, programs and standards and provide technical assistance to strengthen the administrative, fiscal and technical capabilities of LG officers and personnel
  • Formulate, prescribe, monitor and periodically evaluate local development policies, plans, programs and projects designed to enhance the participation of LGUs planning and implementation
  • Formulate and develop models, standards and technical materials on local government development
  • Establish a viable system of strategies and approaches for local governments anchored on citizens participation within the holistic and integrated framework for the development of communities
  • Assist Local Chief Executives And LGU functionaries, strengthen their administrative, fiscal and technical capabilities to enable them to effectively manage their resources and govern their constituencies.
  • With a sense of public service, urgency and responsibility, assist in the capabilities of LGUs to deliver equitable, efficient, and effective service, to their respective communities.
  • The BLGD, through its development function envisions that, over time, local government officials and functionaries will be capable of managing local governments effectively and efficiently.
  • The BLGD currently has 57 manpower complement, 8 are managers (Director, Asst. Director, Division Chiefs and Assistant Division Chiefs), 38 are technical staff and 11 administrative personnel.
