LOCAL GOVERNANCE RESOURCE CENTER
"Responsive Governance within your reach"

The Local Governance Resource Center (LGRC) of DILG 13…

It is a learning center that harnesses the role of DILG as knowledge brokers and facilitators of capacity development in local governance. It will serve as an access-point of knowledge in governance for LGUs and other local governance stakeholders.

The DILG, being a Knowledge Centric Organization (KCO) and an advocate of knowledge Management (KM), had always been in this pursuit and now will reach out LGUs using LGRC as a dynamic system.

DILG 13 - LGRC responding to DILG and LGU needs

The center serves as venue for DILG and LGU to learn about new management concepts on local governance administration. Through interactive multimedia and ICT support, the center can access to a wide array of updated information from within and outside of the region. These include areas on local development planning, local institution building, and project management. At the same time, the center also serves as the link to other Regional LGCRs nationwide, enabling LGUs to access exemplary practices worth replicating. Peer-to-per knowledge sharing can happen among LCEs/LGU officials discussing their learning experiences, strategies, approaches and innovations. .

DILG 13 – LGRC as a technical assistance center

As provider of technical assistance on local governance administration, the center guides the LGUs with the following framework:

The diagnostic tools stored in LGRC can be used to assess the state of local governance of the LGUs. Consequently, the State of Local Governance Report (SLGR) will serve as the basis in formulating the Executive and Legislative Agenda (ELA) being agreed upon by the Executive and Legislative Officials during their term of office. Once put into action, the ELA will give birth to exemplary performance worth replicating by other LGUs.

On Knowledge Sharing

The LGRC espouses knowledge sharing through its available information materials. These are, among others, best practice documents, reports, publications and how-to-manuals concerning local government administration. These materials can be accessed using LGRC Caraga website and are made available in the LGRC site.

It is the center where Local Officials and stakeholders can be briefed using available knowledge products appropriate to the needs of their locality. The center is also used as a venue for roundtable discussions among in-house coaches - tackling issues and trends in local governance.
