Emergency Network Philippines

The ENP Call Centers

Emergency centers serve as interfaces between people who need help and the corresponding rescue forces.   ENP consists of 16 emergency call centers, 1 headquarter center, 1 maintenance center and 1 training center throughout the Philippines.

Types of Centers

There are four different types of centers and they are defined according to their main tasks. Additionally, the number of inhabitants of a given area impacts the size of the system equipment and network connections.

Headquarters

Headquarters is the “supervisor” of all operational sites. Operators at headquarters are able to support their colleagues in critical situations. Coordination of countrywide disaster management can be directed from this site.

Maintenance Center

This Center is available for administration and testing purposes. Like at headquarters, equipment for network management and maintenance is available.

Training Center

A high-level system requires well-trained people. Technical staff, administrators and operators can be trained on real equipment under real-life conditions.

Operational Center

These are the project’s principal operating units. Operators in the operational centers take the emergency calls of the respective region. Each region has its own center. Even networking between the regions is one of the system’s biggest advantages; a single center can work completely independently without a network connection to another center. If a disaster damages the network connection, local support of 117 is guaranteed.

Typical Size of an Operational Center

An ENP operational center supports:

  • 4 to 16 operator positions for operators (excluding one supervisory position)

  • up to 36 telephone lines

  • up to 8 radio lines

  • up to 8 interconnections to other centers.

The system total of all ENP centers counts 95 operator positions.
